Georgetown, Guyana: Two cannabis farms were set on fire and destroyed completely following an eradication exercise at Kaiwa in the Upper Berbice River area. Along with the farms, the officials have destroyed nurseries and narcotics, which were seized during the search.

If sources are to be believed, it has been said that the recovered cannabis is estimated to have a street value of GC $30,617,100.
In addition, the team has discovered another farm, which was located just about 100 feet of distance away from the first one. It was measured as two acres in size, and found to have about 2,000 plants spanning from 8 inches to 4 feet in height.
The officials took an estimate of the ganja seedlings, which resulted in 2200 kilograms and estimated a street value of GC $338,800. Notably, both the farms, nurseries, and narcotics were set on fire. The police have not yet arrested anybody in connection to the farms and narcotics, however, they have executed their search for the suspect.
The authorities urged the general public with any information to come forward and assist them in their investigation.
Additionally, many people have shared their opinions in the case through their comments on the social media (Facebook).
While reacting to the news, a person named Emanuel Lewis commented, “Instead of destroying the weed why not get these fellas together and do the right thing. Weed is legal in some parts of the US/North America, Europe, why not organise markets for the produce instead of destroying it.”
Another Fb user, by the name of Danny Bwoy wrote, “Like is all the Ganja farm burnt down in Guyana make the whole Guyana get under smoke…. Why lighting fire now in this dry weather! Leave the herbs alone.”
