Guyana Prez Irfaan Ali, Barbados PM Mia Mottley meet business leaders across CARICOM in Trinidad
Trinidad and Tobago: President Dr Irfaan Ali, along with Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, attended a meeting with a number of business leaders from across CARICOM.

Trinidad and Tobago: President Dr Irfaan Ali, along with Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, attended a meeting with a number of business leaders from across CARICOM on August 19, 2022 at the Brix Hotel in Port of Spain.
President Ali informed the group of the development trajectory of Guyana and the numerous projects currently in progress across all sectors. He also updated them about Guyana beyond 2025 and the government’s plans to build a new, modern city— Silica City.
The Head of State implored the businessmen to form themselves into consortiums to be able to access the large projects and to “think outside of the box”.
After delivering brief remarks, the President and the Prime Minister discussed opportunities in CARICOM.
Executives from Republic Financial Holdings Limited, including its Managing Director and President Nigel Baptiste and Managing Director of Republic Bank- Guyana, also attended the meet.
Prior to this, Dr Irfaan Ali reassured a large gathering of Guyanese living in Trinidad and Tobago that they are essential to the development of Guyana.
President Ali made the remarks while addressing the Guyanese diaspora at the Radisson Hotel in Port of Spain this afternoon.
President Ali emphasised that his government is leading a movement to harness the talent, expertise and experience of all Guyanese across the world to be utilised for the growth, development and upliftment of the country.
He added that “we are on the same team” on a single path of achieving ‘One Guyana’ that will see every single citizen living a prosperous life.
The Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister – Hugh Todd; the Minister of Agriculture – Zulfikar Mustapha; the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce – Oneidge Walrond; CEO of GO-Invest, Dr Peter Ramsaroop and other Government officials were also at the meeting.
The respective ministers also provided an update and outlook on their sectors.
