Guyana police nabs minibus passenger with 21.4 grams of marijuana
A 29-year-old passenger of a minibus nabbed with the narcotics at a road block at Mango Landing in Region #8 of Guyana. Notably, the passenger was found to be in possession of 21.4 grams of suspected marijuana with him.

Guyana: A 29-year-old passenger of a minibus was nabbed with the narcotics at a road block at Mango Landing in Region #8. Notably, the passenger was found to be in possession of 21.4 grams of suspected marijuana with him.
As per the information, two higher ranked officers were conducting a stop and search exercise at the Mango Landing Police Outpost at around 17:00 hrs on Wednesday 3 January, 2024. While conducting the exercise, the authorities intercepted a route #72 minibus (BSS 5372). The bus was driven by a 63-year-old man and the four passengers were sitting in the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the police officers of Guyana asked to held a search on the passengers and their personal items, to that all the passengers agreed.
During the search, the authorities found one transparent plastic bag hidden among some clothing. The plastic bag contained various items which includes, a quantity of leaves, seeds and the stems which were suspected to be Cannabis.
All these items belonged to a 29-year-old passenger who has been identified as Lestroy Archibald and a resident of Tuschen Old Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.
Moreover, the suspect was told of the offence he committed and the authorities cautioned and arrested him regarding the same. He was taken to the Mahdia Police Station for the offence he did.
At the same time, the suspected Cannabis found from him was weighed in front of him, and the weight was found to be equal to 21.4 grams. The narcotic substance was later marked, sealed and lodged by the Guyana Police. The suspect was placed into the custody and is slated to be charged for the crime.
The residents of Guyana expressed their sentiments into the matter, Vanetta Hinds stated “They know that police are always out there checking their bags and yet still they going with weed and other illegal things.”
While another social media account by the name of Guyanese Love shared his opinion which reads as “We need to change the law when it comes to this amount of weed, he can’t make any profit out of it and on that amount, I think its unfair to keep him in custody, the man is going and working in the interior.”
