Guyana: Two people were apprehended as the authorities found 1133.4 grams of marijuana during the raid conducted by them at Belle West Canal #2, West Bank Demerara.
The suspects are identified as 18-year-old Serena Wilson, an unemployed female and 20-year-old Romaul Armstrong, a Construction Worker.
Upon receiving the information, the authorities responded to the matter and went to the premises of two individuals who are now in custody of the officers. As soon as the officers of the Leonora Police Station reached the said area, they conducted a search of the premises and the person.
During the search, the officers found nothing illegal on the premises. However, the higher-ranked officers observed a bushy area to the southern side of the house with a track leading into the bushes.
One of the officials then observed a blue barrel with a black cover in the bushes. While searching the barrel, the authorities found many black transparent plastic bags. The bags contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be Cannabis.
Subsequently, the officers took both suspects to the Leonora Police Station along with the narcotics found in the barrel. The narcotics were then weighed, which amounted to 1133.4 grams of marijuana.
When the authorities asked the suspects about the Cannabis, they denied knowing about it. Moreover, the authorities are thoroughly investigating the matter.
Various residents of the community took to their social media accounts and expressed their views on the matter. One person with a Facebook account, Gary Major, commented, “Winnable case. No drugs were found on them. It was in an area not near to them…why the police so cruel…take the drugs to the station and leave the people alone ..the drugs weren’t found on them.”
“Case closed, set the people free. u didn’t find it in the house or on their personal bodies; go and look for bandits who rob and kill people,” wrote Alice Kerry.
Another person with a Facebook account, Caled Win, commented the following: “Let them face the law. They are helping to destroy young minds. Working an 8 to 4 job is a burden to them. Fast money has consequences that they will have to face sooner or later.”
