Guyana officials seizes 243 grams of Ganja, suspect not known; investigation continues

Georgetown, Guyana: The Guyana authorities found 243 grams of Ganja in Prince Williams Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, Guyana. The owner of the narcotics found is not known by the officers and is conducting further investigation.
As per the reports, a Deputy Superintendent received the information about the narcotics and they responded immediately to it by making their visit to the said area along with other police officials.
As soon as the authorities reached there, they conducted a search of the empty lot. While conducting the search, they found a bag which contained a quantity of small zip-lock bags. The authorities later held a search on the bag and found leaves, stems and seeds suspected to be cannabis.
Subsequently, the cannabis discovered by the authorities was weighed and it amounted to 243 grams. The officers are further probing the matter and have promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, along with that to find out the owner of the narcotic substance.
This is not the first time that cannabis has been found in the country, the consumption of it has become very common and authorities are diligently performing their duties and taking several measures in order to get the culprit punished for their offence.
The officials have stated that they are trying their best to prevent the consumption and trafficking of drugs with a vision to make Guyana a drug-free nation.
Several residents of the community took to their social media accounts and raised their concerns about the future of youth seeing the constant cases related to drugs.
One person commented, “I’m just worrying about the younger generation, I hope they stay far away from such activities, they should not get indulged in just nonsense things.”
Another person commented the following “It is good, that authorities are taking such cases seriously and is seriously performing their duties, good job.”
The residents of the community have appreciated the authorities for constantly making efforts to curb the usage of drugs in the nation. They have also requested the administration to conduct workshops for the youth of the nation to teach them that drugs are injurious to health.
