Guyana man stabbed by his brother-in-law

Keon Liverpool, 26-year-old, resident of Ituni Village, Region 10, Guyana stabbed by his own brother-in-law on Monday afternoon. The victim is lying in serious condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Notably, the suspect has been identified as Mark Rodeny, a resident of Soesdyle, East Bank Demerara, Guyana.

While giving the statement, Liverpool stated that it was Rodney’s fiancée who instructed him to stab and kill Liverpool. He added that the knife given to the suspect was given by Piggott, the suspect’s fiancée.

As per the information shared by Liverpool, he stated that he was stabbed twice, once to his abdomen and another to his hand.

According to the statement made by the victim, he and his fiancée were building their home, purchasing the household items and putting them aside to furnish their home after it is completed.

Adding further on this, the victim said, “A few days ago, he and his fiancée bought a chair set and had taken it to her home to store it in her apartment, at Soesdyke where she lives, but Piggott was also there at that time and she reportedly began harassing the woman about the victim. She then reportedly told the victim’s fiancée that she needs to take permission from her brother Rodney to bring the furniture into the yard. A few moments after Rodney showed up and said to his sister that she could not take the furniture into their yard and he locked the gate.”

Moreover, the victim and his fiancée added that Piggott and Rodney have been harassing the couple since the start of the year and they have tried many times to separate the couple.

Further, the victim was going to his sister’s place in Ituni when the suspect’s fiancée, Piggott who lives in the same village near his sister’s place started cursing the victim.

It is to be noted, after the situation got overbearing for the victim, he asked Piggott what is her problem with him and in the moment, Piggott pulled out the knife and handed it to Rodney and told him to kill Liverpool.

The suspect at first hesitated but then Piggott told him again to kill Liverpool so Rodney ran up to Liverpool and stabbed him causing his intestines to protrude.

Subsequently, victim ran away from the location and tied a cloth around his abdomen. He was later taken to the Linden Hospital Complex and was then transferred to GPHC.
