Grenada Tourism Authority continues partnership with sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor

The Grenada Tourism Authority has had an extremely fruitful collaborative relationship with sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor. Taylor is known for installing the underwater sculptors at the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park, that have intrigued people the world over.

He will now focus on a new project, which will see him collaborating with the Grenada Tourism Authority once more. Carriacou and Petite Martinique will be the sites of his latest creations which will make up the display of a brand-new sculpture park.

The primary motivation behind this project is to conflate environmental consciousness and art in a manner which allows Grenada to focus on important issues such as global warming and the detrimental effects it has had on the marine ecosystems of the nation.

The Chairman of the Grenada Tourism Authority, Randall Dolland, said the following, “We are all very excited about this new initiative. A new sculpture park with a socially responsible message, located in some of the most beautiful waters that our nation has to offer and at the foot of the Grenadines, will shine a bright spotlight on Carriacou and will be prominently featured in our destination marketing campaigns.”

The Grenada Tourism Authority is seeking to make sure that the nation’s sister isles are developed to the highest possible degree through the introduction of such a project. The project is also a means of highlighting the significance of establishing sustainable practices in the tourism industry.

The new sculpture park will also allow the community to become an active proponent of the project, with community engagement as one of the top priorities.

Jason deCaires Taylor himself, gave his thoughts on what is to come, “The fusion of art and environmental conservation has the power to educate, inspire and provoke change. I am honoured to collaborate with the Grenada Tourism Authority on this venture that will not only captivate visitors but also raise awareness about the urgent need to protect our oceans.” 

Judging by the previous projects that the Grenada Tourism Authority has pursued with Jason deCaires Taylor, this new endeavor promises to be a sight to behold which will bring tourists to Grenada from varied corners of the world.
