Grenada National Commission launches UNESCO Young Professionals Programme 2023
UNESCO Young Professionals Programme 2023 was launched by the Grenada National Commission for UNESCO earlier this week.

St George’s, Grenada: The UNESCO Young Professionals Programme 2023 was launched by the Grenada National Commission for UNESCO earlier this week. The aim of the programme is defined to be enriching and diversifying UNESCO, attracting young, talented professionals to the Secretariat.
Along with this, must-meet criteria were shared for the candidates:
1. A national of Grenada, as of July 2023
2. The maximum age of the candidate must be 32 years old as of December 31, 2023 (not born before January 1, 1991).
3. Must hold a master’s or equivalent university degree, with a specialisation in the below-mentioned areas: Education; Natural Sciences; Social and Human Sciences; Cultural Policies and Development; Human Resources Management; Business Administration; International Cooperation and Development Psychology; Law; Audit; Finance; Accounting; Media; Journalism; Public Information; International Relations and Political Sciences.
4. Fluent in French or English – Knowledge of both working languages would be an asset.
Furthermore, the interested candidates were informed that they would be selected on the basis of the core values of the organisation of integrity, professionalism, respect for diversity and commitment to UNESCO’s mandate, widening the UN system.
However, it was highlighted that prior experience is not an essential requirement, but relevant experience can be an asset.
Elaborating on the selection as the UNESCO staff members, the authority emphasises that if a candidate goes through all the stages of the application process, the person will be a staff member on a regular fixed-term contract at the P-1/P-2 level. Accordingly, the job assignments will be either at headquarters or in a field office.
The first nine months will be a probationary period, and the renewal will depend on the performance. According to the official post by the authorities, during the first year of the service, the young professionals will get guidance from a mentor, and eventually, they will be given the opportunity to participate in training on various and relevant UNESCO areas.
The required document for the candidate is a Curriculum Vitae using a freestyle template, up to a maximum of two (2) pages, to include their name, gender, date of birth (DOB), telephone/Email, degree and the area of specialisation listed above, along with copies of university certificates, to be considered for pre-selection.
