Grenada allocates $1.5 Million as Education Care Package for students of Carriacou and Petite Martinique
Around 80 students are expected to be benefitted from this significant initiative by Grenada

The Government of Grenada to spend more than $1.5 million in Education Care Packages, which will be delivered to the students of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Around 80 students are expected to be benefitted from this significant initiative.
This initiative is a post-Hurricane Beryl education sector response to assist students, who have had to relocate to Grenada to begin or continue their studies. It will play a huge role in providing an uninterrupted flow in the educational journey of all those 80 recipients at the T.A. Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) and the New Life Organisation.
Notably, the Ministry hosted the Government of Grenada’s Education Care Package Distribution Ceremony on Wednesday, 18th September, 2024 at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium. This ceremony was conducted under the theme “Investing in Our Future” with a motive to empower individuals so that they can build a resilient, innovating and thriving future.
The ceremony was attended by several delegates including Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell; Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Tevin Andrews; Minister for Education, David Andrew and many others.
The mentioned venture was sponsored by Laluna Boutique Hotel and Villas, Sandals Grenada and CPL T20 Cricket. The representatives of all these sponsors were also the part of the event.
As per the reports, under the Education Care Packages, students will receive $2000 for accommodation, meals and transportation; $500 for uniforms and $1200 for textbooks as the first month’s instalment. Along with that, every student will also receive a laptop from the Government of Grenada, ensuring efficient and detailed learning on different subjects.
Meanwhile, in the second month of the installment, each student will only receive the $2000 monthly payment to cover living expenses. As, the uniforms and textbooks will have already been covered in the initial payment.
While addressing the students present during the ceremony, the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell stated that Life is really funny, sometimes the person come out better, bigger and more confident when they are facing any tough or difficult time.
He asserted that every challenge makes a person more confident and successful. “The next time a Beryl-like adversity faces you, you will overcome it as well,” noted PM Dickon Mitchell.
Recently, the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) also made an announcement of contributing US$50,000 to assist tertiary level students whose education were significantly disrupted, following the disastrous impact of Hurricane Beryl in July 2024.
Along with that, the CPL has also made a commitment to bring large number of affected students to CPL 2025 in order to give them an opportunity to work as interns with a vision to help them with their professional development as they consider their career options in future.
