Hopeton Hibbert, a Grammy-nominated producer dies at 60s of battling diabetes on Wednesday, 10th April 2024. His death was confirmed by Doreen Hibbert, the wife of reggae legend, Toots Hibbert.

His exceptional skills as a bass player and guitarist have left such a legacy behind which will never be forgotten and will be carried forward by several artists. Hopeton Hibbert was always passionate towards his field of music.

It was his unwavering commitment and dedication that he made his place on the nominations list for the Grammy Awards. His albums namely, “Reggae Got Soul” and “Unplugged on Strawberry Hill” were not only loved by the audience but also received nominations for the prestigious awards “Grammy.”

As per the details shared by the family friend, the doctors were planning to amputate his legs because of the severe complications he was facing due to diabetes. However, he died before the procedure could take place.

Hopeton was famously known as a bass player who performed on several Reggae Sunsplash tours for many years with his Skool Band. Following that, he also went on tour with Morgan Heritage Band, where he got an opportunity to win the hearts of several people and also to nurture his skills.

He also went on tour with the legend and his father Toots Hibbert and collaborated with double-platinum recording artist, Peter Blakely. Along with being a renowned bass player, he was also known for his talent on the guitar.

He was also given an opportunity to share the stage with rising stars such as Damian and Julian Marley which sheds light on his remarkable and incredible journey in the field of music. His reggae music has left a lifelong impact on the hearts and minds of several people which will be remembered for a long time.

Following the demise of Hopeton Hibbert, his fans and citizens of the community flooded social media accounts with their condolence wishes. A few people also raised their concern about the sufferings of diabetic patients and urged the administration to guide people about diabetes and to aware them of the disease.
