Fatal shooting at Vieux Fort, kills one 

A man was shot dead at Vieux Fort on Saturday, marking the 13th Homicide of the year so far.

Castries, Saint Lucia: A man was shot dead at Vieux Fort on Saturday, marking the 13th Homicide of the year so far. The police arrived at the scene and found him lying on the sidewalk along Clarke Street. 

It is to be noted that the deceased was identified as 23-year-old Jeffery Junior Mc Farlene. He is a resident of the West Hall Group at Vieux Fort. He received several injuries on his body due to a fatal gunshot. 

The people across the area heard the firing sounds, and upon arriving at the site, they found Farlene on the street. Noting this, they immediately reported the matter to the police, and on receiving the report, officials responded and reached the crime scene.

The investigating officers discovered a 23-year-old deceased lying motionless on the footpath of Clarke Street. It is believed that he tried to take a run during the incident, and in the process, he left a trail of blood and collapsed on the ground. 

Police recovered his body and taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead. This is considered as 13th Homicide of the island nation. 

Further, just an hour ago before the happening of this incident, the ranks of Micoud Police Station reported a case of a fatal shooting incident at Anse Ger in Desruisseaux, where two men received multiple injuries due to the gunshots. 

The officers responded and arrived at the place, and they took the victims to the medical facility for treatment. 

According to a police release, it has been said that the duo sustained non-serious injuries, and they were currently recovering. The investigating officers urged the public with any information to come forward and share the details with the police for a smooth investigation. 

Additionally, a victim recognised as Rick Kisna alias, also known as ‘Bossla’, was gunned down near the Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School by a masked man in front of his home. 

The police discovered his body lying motionless on the ground. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the St Jude Hospital.

The government of Saint Lucia has appointed high-level officers in its police department, and they have access to all legal powers to combat the increase in crimes. RSLPF is conducting several anti-crime exercises in different constituencies, which are expected to have a positive impact and will restrict gang-related criminal activities.
