EXCLUSIVE: Weather in Trinidad and Tobago to remain mostly cloudy in coming days

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: The Meteorological Department of Trinidad and Tobago has shared the weather update for Friday, Saturday and Sunday amid the threat of Tropical Storm Bret. The update was shared by the department on June 22, 2023 (Thursday).
As per the update, on June 23, 2023 (Friday), the weather is predicted to be partly cloudy to cloudy from early morning, with light to moderate showers in varying areas. There is a moderate to high chance for isolated heavy showers or thunderstorms to develop. Afternoon into evening and night will become settled with brief showers in a few areas.
In addition to this, the Meteorological Department has also informed that on Saturday, the surface wind direction will continue to back (rotate in a counterclockwise direction) from south-southeast to east-southeast during the morning and eventually easterly by midday. Early morning convergence can produce some light to moderate showers in varying areas. There is a medium chance for an isolated heavy shower or thunderstorm. Evening and night are expected to be generally fair with the chance of a brief shower.
Furthermore, it stated that on Sunday, the weather conditions will be mostly fair and sunny but with surface heating and some mild low-level convergence. There is the chance for a few light to moderate showers and an isolated heavy shower or thunderstorm during the late morning to afternoon favouring hilly areas and western Trinidad.
It further warned that in the event of heavy showers or thunderstorms, winds can become gusty, and street or flash flooding is likely in the vicinity.
As per the department, there was a mild concentration of Saharan dust in the atmosphere, during the last hours of June 22, which can increase to moderate concentration at times over the coming weekend.

As the threat of Tropical Storms is increasing with the passing hour, the governments of the Caribbean country are asking the general public to be safe and cautious. The list of emergency shelters is also released by the governments and the disaster management authorities to safeguard the public from uninvited nature threats.
