East Coast Road Project follows rapid progress, states PM Roosevelt Skerrit
The East Coast Road Project makes steady progress in the country, Dominica. Under the project, the undergoing constructions are continuing on the section of road stretching from Castle Bruce to Hatton Garden through the Kalinago Territory.

Roseau, Dominica: The East Coast Road Project is making steady progress in the country, Dominica. Under the project, the undergoing constructions are continuing on the section of road stretching from Castle Bruce to Hatton Garden through the Kalinago Territory. The PM Roosevelt Skerrit shared an update on the same.
The East Coast Road Project costs 136 million dollars, and is funded by the World Bank. The funding has been made available through the Government of Dominica and the World Bank under the Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP). The works which are undergoing include 4 Lots which are as follows:
- Lot 1 includes the constructions from Pont Casse to Bois Diable
- Lot 2 includes the works from Bois Diable to Castle Bruce
- Lot 3 includes the constructions from Castle Bruce to Petite Soufriere
- Lot 4 includes the works from Castle Bruce to Hatton Garden
The East Coast Road Project aims at improving infrastructure resilience to disaster events and pilot climate change adaptation measures. This will be done through slope stabilization interventions, rehabilitation of roads, bridges and retaining walls. Also, this will include rehabilitation and constructions of drainage systems.
In March 2023, the project got into the phase of asphalt surfacing from the Bois Diable junction. However, it was started in 2022. The Ministry of Public Works and the Digital Economy of Dominica through this initiative have contributed a lot towards it.
And, on the progressing constructions, the Public Works Minister expressed his satisfaction. He even highlighted that such a construction would lead towards enhancing the infrastructure of the country.
The country is on the path of becoming world’s first climate resilient nation and such developmental action commits the efforts of the authorities towards fulfilling it.
The development through East Coast Road Project would enhance the road network across Dominica and will lead towards the resiliency goals. The enhanced road networks would even address the concerns of the citizens towards enhancing mobility. The rehabilitation works in the country directs towards the infrastructural development in the country.
