Dominica: Tourism Minister Denise Charles becomes chair of OECS Council of Tourism Ministers
Dominica: The Minister of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives Denise Charles has assumed the chair of the OECS Council of Tourism Ministers on July 21, 2022 (Thursday).

Dominica: The Minister of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives Denise Charles has assumed the chair of the OECS Council of Tourism Ministers on July 21, 2022 (Thursday). Charles has taken the position at the 7th OECS Council of Ministers of Tourism Minister, organised at the Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski.
After Denise Charles acquired the position many leaders of Dominica congratulated her. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit took social media and extended congratulations to the Tourism Minister. Prime Minister Skerrit stated, “Congratulations to Denise Charles, who assumes the Chairmanship of the Council as member states aim to build a more resilient, inclusive & sustainable tourism industry.”
After taking the position, Denise Charles said that she will focus on improving the hospitality training and the enhancement of the regional transportation system to provide affordable travel options remains on top of her agenda.
“As we make investments into the infrastructures and processes the skillset of our people need to be enhanced and fully utilised. It is my distinct pleasure to serve as incoming chair to the OECS council of tourism ministers, I am extremely elated that after two years of battling the COVID-19 pandemic, our first reunion in person is happening in Dominica,” said the Tourism Minister.
“I believe that the OECS Council of Tourism Ministers is a perfect platform for bringing together the policymakers who can set the foundation for carrying out future tourism sector which is vibrant and sustainable,” Denise Charles- Minister of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives of Dominica, added.
She also praised Dominica for tackling and for doing extremely well during the COVID-19 pandemic times. She mentioned that the government of Dominica put the health and safety of people at the top and also allowed the tourists to have a safe and secure visit.
Furthermore, Minister Denise Charles praised the Caribbean region and highlighted the mesmerizing and unique features, “Come have fun at the lovely beaches of Antigua, Carnival in Saint Lucia, delicious food in Grenada, follow your heart in St Kitts and Nevis, hop over in Dominica and immerse yourself in waterfalls, rivers, hot springs, nature hikes, whale watching, diving and enjoy at our five-star eco-resorts.”
