Dominica seeks India for 70,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine
Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica has written to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to seek 70,000 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca to shield Dominica from the lethal COVID-19.

Dominica: Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica has written to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to seek 70,000 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca to shield Dominica from the lethal COVID-19.

PM Roosevelt Skerrit wrote, “As we enter 2021 and persevere in our fight against Covid-19, Dominica’s population of 72,100 is in urgent need of enough doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
He further added in the letter, “I draw your kind attention to the enormous challenge faced by our people in obtaining a vaccine for Covid-19. Notwithstanding the pledge by Oxford-AstraZeneca to provide more than half of its doses to the world’s developing nations.”
He pointed out,” As it currently stands, the large number of Dominicans will not be able to obtain a vaccine for a very long time. We are a small island developing nation and are unable to compete with larger countries with greater demand for vaccines and more funds with which to pay for it.”
Why Dominica seeking help from India?
Dominican government believes that India has a long history of cooperation and support. Dominica and India have established good relations. Several people migrated from India to Dominica for global business and to pursue greater education. Lethal coronavirus is the primary concern for every country. Restriction over the expansion of coronavirus is the primary goal for Developing Dominica.
Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit stated that Dominicans would not be able to obtain a vaccine for a very long time. Dominica will be unable to compete with larger nations for the vaccine and more funds with which to pay for it.
If we talk about COVID-19 updates, then Now, total active cases are 9. Complete recovery is 104, total confirmed COVID-19 cases are 113, the number in good quarantine is 51, the number of contacts cleared is 868, the number of contacts identified is 868, the number of the person tested is 8498 and number of negative results were 8385.
