Dominica: On Monday, Dominican Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit visited the Joe Burton area in the Wesley district for the site touring.

According to the government of Dominica, people who would be dislodged by the construction of the International Airport will get homes in the Joe Burton area in Wesley.

Dominican PM Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit stated, “Your Government plans to construct residential units in this area for the homeowners who will be displaced by the construction of Dominica’s International Airport.” on his official Facebook page.

The International Airport project is the most discussed and guaranteed initiative of the government of Dominica, and it is going to cost between 800-900 million dollars.

As per the Dominican’s government, the IKAO and Eastern Caribbean Aviation Authority are included at every step, and continuous consultations are being done regularly.

The World Bank has also stationed its airport experts to serve the Caribbean island with the international airport project.

Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit had declared in November 2020 that World Bank airport specialists would remember as an independent group of experts and will measure all documents, including the ones awaking from the American firm- Landrum and Brown that is currently conducting on the schemes of the airport.

A ministerial and technical committee has been authenticated up for the airport project, which is required to gather every week to follow up on any interests associated with the international airport’s foundation.

Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit indicates the international airport project as the “biggest” and the “game-changer” for Dominica.

Moreover, the airport would also have the capability of long haul flights. The development work is expected to begin in the first quarter of this year.
