Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit thanks his supporters on swear-in ceremony
Leader of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has sworn in as the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica for the sixth consecutive year.

Dominica: Leader of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has sworn in as the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica for the sixth consecutive year.
During the swearing ceremony, PM Roosevelt Skerrit stated that the Dominica Labour Party took its case to Dominicans and was rewarded on December 6 with a resounding victory in the elections.
He stated that this is the ultimate expression by Dominicans of their continued confidence in the philosophy and programs of the DLP.
“I wish to assure voters, residents and citizens, at home and abroad, that we are eternally grateful for the support and shall strive to honour and meet the expectations of the public,” he said.
While highlighting his call for a national reset, PM Skerrit mentioned that the continued support had given this government the opportunity to pursue the National Reset he indicated in his address on November 6 while announcing for calling of elections in Dominica.
He stated that the new DLP team, during this new term, will accelerate the resolution of challenges besetting residents of eastern and south-eastern communities adversely impacted by heavy rainfall and the disaster that this precipitated.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit also stated that from January 2023, his team would commence working on all the priority projects, including the construction of the international airport in Roseau.
He further highlighted that the government of the Dominica Labour Party will work to provide benefits to the elderly and will concentrate on providing new and developed opportunities to the youth in sectors like education and training.
He outlined that this new term of the Labour Party will be more focused on achievable. PM Roosevelt Skerrit also informed that he would address the general public of Dominica on December 12, Monday. The new Cabinet of Ministers will swear into office on the next day, December 13, 2022, at the State House.
He also thanked the people for supporting him and his political party for re-electing them.
