Dominica: Denise Charles shares update on Pointe Michel Housing Project

Roseau, Dominica: Denise Charles- Minister of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives of Dominica, as well as Chairman of the OECS Council of Tourism Ministers, announced that the work started on the housing project in Pointe Michel. She shared the update on the projects and stated that it had witnessed huge delays.
She also expressed pleasure in the resumption of the work on the housing project. Through her social media, she updates, “Work has started on the housing project in Pointe Michel, and everyone is so excited.”
The project has been experiences delayed for a long time in order to ensure that every matter related to housing and the development of the Poree Playing Field gets resolved.
She stated, “The project was delayed to ensure that they amicably resolved matters related to housing and the development of the Poree Playing Field.”
Denise Charles extended gratitude to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit for his commitment to ensuring that the families affected by Hurricane Maria could be resettled. In order to fulfil their commitment, the government of Dominica also delivers 1500 houses and strives to build over 5000 climate-resilient houses to withstand natural calamities, especially category 5 Hurricanes.
She asserted, “Thank you to the Prime Minister for his commitment to ensuring that families affected by Hurricane Maria and vulnerable families in our constituency have a resilient house to call home and our development partners MMCE.”
Denise Charles also thanked MMCE for their huge support and contribution to building climate-resilient homes.
She also extended gratitude to the Ministry of Housing, Pointe Michel Sports Council, Pointe Michel Village Council, DFA, Ministry of Sports, and the residents for their cooperation and understanding. She expected excellent workmanship from our contractors and their teams.
The government of Dominica is adamant about fulfilling its aim of being the world’s first climate-resilient home and highly investing in building climate-resilient infrastructure.
