Culturama 50 turns out to be massive success, marks 68% surge in visitors at Nevis

Culturama 50 turned out be a great success for the tourism sector of Nevis as the Vance W. Amory International Airport marked a surge of 68% in the passenger arrivals. This notable increase in the arrival of passengers shed light on the efforts undertaken by the administration towards positioning Nevis as a premier destination for all the travellers.

Not only the airways but also other modes of transport played a massive role in bringing a large number of tourists to the country during the 50th celebration of Nevis Culturama 2024.

As, Oualie Water Taxi Pier witnessed 60% increase in water taxi traffic with 1025 vehicles passed through the long point Port. Along with that, the island nation also recorded a huge rise of 7% in the harbour activity at the Charlestown Pier.

While shedding light on this remarkable growth, the Premier Mark Brantley appreciated all the organizers, sponsors, participants and every person who was behind the successful execution of Nevis Culturama 50. He acknowledged every tourist and passengers who visited Nevis to celebrate its rich cultural heritage.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our rich culture and heritage. Your presence made this milestone event truly unforgettable. Here’s to many more years of unity and celebration,” noted Premier Mark Brantley.

He stated that this year’s Culturama 50 has taken an incredible turnout and was a resounding success evidenced by the remarkable increase in passenger movements across Nevis throughout the Culturama period in contrast to the last year.

NEVIS CULTURAMA 50

The Nevis Culturama Festival stands as a pinnacle of celebration on the island which was conducted in the country from July 25th to August 6th, 2024 under the theme, “Celebrating Culture, Embracing History, It’s Culturama 50!” This festival played a huge role in inviting locals and visitors alike to revel in the richness of Nevisian culture.

This festival is a vibrant celebration of the island’s cultural heritage, showcasing a kaleidoscope of traditions, music, dance, and cuisine. The festival turned the island alive with colour, sound, parades, decorations and many more.

Events and Activities

It features a lineup of events and activities that showcase the island’s vibrant music scene. From Pageants, Calypso Competitions, Panorama, Culturama Village to many more, the island nation offered all the visitors with an experience like no other.

OPENING CEREMONY

The authorities offered an unforgettable night featuring vibrant cultural acts like Masquerade, Bull, Clowns, and much more. They also got an opportunity to witness the historic renaming of the Cultural Complex facility on 25th July 2024.

Musical performances

Several electrifying musical performances took place and for the same the authorities hosted Cultural Village Entertainment programme. The artists like Deejay Smudge, Dendy, Kollision Band, DJ Woodis, Xray and many more graced the Culturama 50 with their presence.

Pageants

The authorities also hosted pageants such as Miss Culture Swimwear and Mr Kool Contest, Bank of Nevis Miss Culture Queen Pageant in order to offer an unforgettable evening of style and flair to all the attendees.

Parades

One of the highlights of the Culturama festival is the dazzling array of parades that wind their way through the streets of Nevis. The streets are adorned in elaborate costumes and accompanied by pulsating rhythms; these parades pay homage to the island’s diverse cultural influences.

The Nevis Culturam 50 offered a plethora of experiences to all the citizens of the country, as they celebrated the culture, dance, music, cuisine, colours and many more of the Nevis Island.
