St Vincent and Grenadines announces First Cannabis Festival scheduled for November

St Vincent and Grenadines: The Medicinal Cannabis Authority has announced the launch of the first Cannabis festival to take place from 1st to 3rd November 2024. The announcement was made public by authorities on Monday at La Vue Boutique Hotel.

The festival has been named CannaBliss and will include a series of planned activities, including an exhibition of medicinal marijuana products, local food, conferences, and music.

The launch ceremony of the event, which was held yesterday, was attended by several stakeholders, including Minister of Agriculture- Sabato Caesar and Finance Minister- Camillo Gonsalves. They both highlighted the historical significance of hosting the event.

The head of the SVG Medical Cannabis Authority, Jerrol Thompson was also present at the event and revealed that the festival will be having a conference on medical cannabis, an expo, and a concert.

Notably, the island nation of Saint Vincent and Grenadines was among the first OECS islands to decriminalize marijuana for medical purposes and scientific research back in 2018.

The nation has since then practiced to become one of the globally leading medicinal cannabis producers and researchers and maintaining their quality and standards.

The authorities led their first-ever transportation of its medical cannabis shipment to Europe back in 2022. The authority to export was granted when the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices provided an import certificate allowing the product to lawfully enter Germany.

This momentous achievement was a result of the efforts made by the federation in the last three years, which included building connections with international agencies, private sector stakeholders, and the locals, which led this to reality.

The authorities then also led the launch of a Cannabis consumption lounge in the island’s Coconut Grove Beach Club, where the customers could buy Cannabis upon granting permission through onsite consultation for a year.

The launch of this onsite consultation project garnered immense support from the locals as they now had the option to consult and receive treatment through traditional practices at the newly developed lounge.

Notably, the launch of this new initiative in the form of a festival further highlights efforts by the authorities to promote Cannabis medications and treatment plans for an enhanced and swift healthcare recovery.
