Caribbean Tourism Organization appoints Aliyyah Shakeer as new Director of Research
Aliyyah Shakeer, as a new Director of Research for the Caribbean Tourism Organization, will be helping to promote the vision of sustainable tourism growth across the region.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) officials announced a new appointment of Aliyyah Shakeer to the institute. Shakeer is named to take over the responsibilities of Director of Research and to share her experience in the field of tourism development.
Aliyyah Shakeer, as a new Director of Research for the Caribbean Tourism Organization, will be helping to promote the vision of sustainable tourism growth across the region. She is expected to look over the research programs and craft data-driven strategies while providing actionable insights.
Shakeer has previous experience of more than fifteen years, and her expertise of strategy development, policy analysis, and research in the field of tourism made her an eligible candidate for the position. By education, she completed a Master of Arts in Tourism Destination Management.
The new Director of Research for CTO, Aliyyah Shakeer, also holds a degree in MBA, while her bachelor’s was in Economics and Management. In her career, she previously served Trinidad and Tobago’s Tourism Development Company Limited as Manager of Planning and Research.
Shakeer also fulfilled the responsibilities of a Tourism Research and Policy Analyst for the Ministry of Tourism. In her roles, she played a crucial part in revising the National Tourism Policy, which helped the nation and its people to improve in the sector.
She also served at the Ministry of Digital Transformation in the position of International Technical Relations Coordinator. In this position, she supported national projects in terms of financial and technical aspects.
Along with her impressive portfolio, she also proved herself in handling complex data and translating it into strategic insights to impact tourism policies in a positive way. CTO officials are aiming to increase competitiveness in the Caribbean region at the tourism stage while fulfilling the commitment to sustainability.
On her appointment as the new Director of Research for the Caribbean Tourism Organization, Aliyyah Shakeer shared her excitement and gratitude. She said, “I am excited to join the CTO team and contribute to the development of the region’s tourism sector.”
Shakeer added, “I look forward to supporting our member countries and territories as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of the present dynamic tourism landscape, ensuring that the Caribbean remains a leading global destination.”
CEO and Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organization, Dona Regis Prosper, also shared her words after the selection of Aliyyah Shakeer in the institution. Dona said, “We are delighted to have Aliyyah Shakeer join our team as Director of Research.”
CEO Dona Regis Prosper continued with her words, “Her extensive experience in tourism research and strategy development will be invaluable as we work towards a more competitive and sustainable Caribbean tourism industry.”
