Dominica: The tenth cruise will grace Dominica’s shores with the arrival of Costa Fortuna on December 20, 2023. The MV Costa Fortuna will dock at Roseau Cruise Ship Berth.
The cruise ship will bring a significant count of two thousand seven hundred two passengers to the country, contributing to the escalating tourism industry. Importantly, a plaque exchange ceremony will take place to greet and welcome the cruise.
The ceremony will commence at 11:30 am to honor the ship’s maiden visit. The event also signifies the first of two calls that the respective ship will make to the island of Dominica during the Cruise season (2023/2024).
Significantly, the Costa Fortuna was constructed twenty years ago in 2003 on the same platform as the destiny class of Carnival Cruise Lines, echoing the charm of the Italian steamships of the last century.
Moving ahead, two hundred and twenty-two cruise calls have been projected for this cruise season. Such a count of cruise calls would lead to the welcome of more than three hundred and sixty thousand cruise passengers.
From this count, thirteen will be making their inaugural calls. Considering from December 5, 2023, Dominica has already welcomed 35 cruise ships, bringing a total of 52,986 (fifty-two thousand nine hundred and eighty-six) passengers to the country.
Interestingly, this leads to a boost in the economy as more tourists are engaged, resulting in greater benefits for the region. Such an interesting count also helps in promoting and encouraging the local culture of the region.
Such an expansion in the tourism industry is the witness of the dedication of the natives and authorities for the growth and development of the country. Also, the Discover Dominica Authority encourages all the tourism stakeholders to ensure a welcoming and enjoyable experience for the cruise passengers arriving in the country.
Most importantly, it will even lead towards increased cruise calls leading towards increased tourism.
