Barbados: The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is inviting members of the public to participate in its COVID-19 Vaccine Acceptability Survey.
The aim of the survey is to assess the beliefs and opinions of Caribbean residents about COVID-19 vaccines and the potential barriers to acceptance of these vaccines.
Barbados Govt information service informed that, there were 44 positive coronavirus cases reported on Friday, February 26, out of the 795 tests held by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
Seventy-four people redeemed and were released from isolation. The number of active covid cases on the island is now 661.
The 44 new cases included 17 men and 27 females. Seven of them had already went at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility under-process of assessment to conclude whether their positive PCR test outcome showed that they were, in fact, newly covid positive or whether they had a virus in the past and were no longer contagious. Thirty-six of the new covid cases were Barbadians.
Barbados has reported 3,038 confirmed covid cases – 1,417 women and 1,621 men – and 2,344 persons have redeemed. There have been 33 losses from coronavirus
Since February 2020, the general public health laboratory has performed 125,187 tests.
There were 4,326 persons injected from covid vaccines on Friday as part of the National Vaccination Programme for coronavirus. Till now, a total of 33,633 vaccinations have been applied – 14,482 guys and 19,151 ladies.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley announced, in relation to the staggering reopening of the country from Monday, March 1, the Child Care Board has advised that all government day nurseries will remain closed until further notice.
Parents and guardians are reminded to confirm that they provide a safe and secure environment for their children during this period. The Child Care Board acknowledges the public for its understanding, as it continues to work in the best interest of the nation’s children.
