Caribbean leaders remembers the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr

Caribbean: Third Monday of January month is celebrated as Martin Luther King Jr Day. On this remarkable day, leaders of the Caribbean remembered his advocacy for equality. His legacy is the story of freedom and inspiration.

Who was Martin Luther King Jr?

He was an American civil rights activist. On August 28, 1963, he delivered a public speech in Washington for Jobs and Freedom in which he charged for civil and economic rights and an end to racism in the most developing country, the United States. ‘I have a dream’ is the most iconic speech ever delivered by Martin Luther King, Jr.

Message from Leaders of the Caribbean:

Denzil Llewellyn Douglas remembered Martin’s words, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

Jamaican Prime Minister wrote, “Today is remembered as Martin Luther King Jr Day. His advocacy for equality through peaceful protests earned him tremendous praise and admiration. On this day, his legacy remains strong; the world will remember him as one of the most vocal champions in the struggle for black rights and freedoms and as a man of great intellect and wisdom.”

Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet stated, “As the world celebrates Martin Luther King Jr Day, I came across a clip of one of his many speeches which have inspired so many across the world. Though this one is short, I hope that the message resonates with you as much as it has with me.”

Saint Lucia party also stated, “Today, the world remembers the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – a man who believed that all people are created equal. He fought his entire life against racial, social, and economic injustice. He stood up to structures of economic and political power that sought to enrich and empower themselves while leaving the people behind.”

As a citizen, we must revive our dreams to build our life in such a way that can serve our nation.
