The Caribbean Development Bank has announced the release of its Climate Action Series which focuses on the drastic effect that climate change has had on the weather patterns in the region. Since climate change has been affecting the region and the world on the whole, Caribbean islands have been exposed to intense natural calamities in the form of hurricanes, storms and other such weather systems.
As a result of these developments, Caribbean nations have focused extensively on building disaster resistant infrastructure.
The Caribbean Development Bank has played a major role in facilitating this change on a societal level by introducing and promoting programs which look to protect the environment.
The bank is also responsible for establishing the Climate Change Project Preparation Fund. This fund aims to facilitate easy borrowing for Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs) and promotes the development of proposals which focus on climate finance from the bank as well as various international donors.
According to a video released on the Caribbean Development Bank’s official Facebook page, the organisation is aware of the constant erosion of Caribbean shorelines and the diminishing biodiversity of the region. These issues are not just bad for the environment but also effect the livelihood and living conditions of citizens.
Hence, climate change is being seen as an existential threat to the Caribbean and its people. This is why, the Caribbean Development Bank has invited people to be a part of their four-week Climate Action Program which will shed light on how the organisation is looking to improve sustainability and resilience in the Caribbean.
This has been a long-standing goal of the bank, as is made evident by the various steps that it has taken to ensure a safer and better future for the people of the Caribbean.
The Caribbean Development Bank has also asked people to remember that confronting the Caribbean Climate Crisis is of the utmost importance and is a task that every citizen of the region must pursue with zeal to secure the future of the next generation.
