Barbados: British Airways celebrated its 70th anniversary by flying to Barbados on Sunday, 31st March 2024. The Airways introduced 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft, which will operate its service from London, Heathrow with a motive to expand its services.

It is the newest aircraft of British Airways which will utilize its services to Barbados with a vision to enhance connectivity to the nation. As per the Airways, this aircraft features 256 seats and offers an exceptional flying experience to all its passengers. It also has cutting-edge and modernised technologies in order to ensure a memorable and comfortable experience for all visitors.

The welcoming ceremony was conducted at the Grantley Adams International Airport and attended by Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Ian Gooding Edghill, UK Director, Cheryl Carter, Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) Chairperson, Shelly Williams and the Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association, Ryan Forde.

During the ceremony, the Minister of Tourism Ian Gooding-Edghill shared that “the arrival of this magnificent aircraft represents another mutually beneficial achievement from the combination of the two Bs – Barbados and British Airways.”

The 787-10 Dreamliner will operate two flights in a day from London, Heathrow to Barbados and the other from London, Gatwick to the island nation. The inaugural flight which was captained by Stephen Faulks, arrived after 3:00 pm and the passengers who disembarked the flight were given a musical treat by the members of the tuk band. Meanwhile, the second flight disembarked before 7:00 pm.

The tourism minister of Barbados is expecting to witness a surge in the tourism sector of the island nation with the expansion of its services. The authorities have stated that they are looking forward to welcoming a maximum number of travellers to visit and explore their unparalleled beauty and locations.

He has shared that he is excited to showcase the vibrant culture and traditions of the island nation to all its visitors. The expansion of these services will also play a pivotal role in boosting the country’s economic conditions, which will help lead the nation towards growth and development.
