Basseterre: Ministry of Public Infrastructure informs resurfacing of Bank Street Road
Public Works Department of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure has commenced the resurfacing of the Bank Street Road in the capital city Basseterre for the improvement of the vehicular traffic.

St Kitts and Nevis: In a major infrastructure development, the Public Works Department of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure has commenced the resurfacing of the Bank Street Road in the capital city Basseterre for the improvement of the vehicular traffic.
According to the press release by the government of St Kitts and Nevis, the director of the Public Works Department – George Gilbert, during an interactive session with media stated that travelling through the Bank Street Road has been uncomfortable for the public and to ease this inconvenience the department has decided to resurface it under the road maintenance programme.
Minister Gilbert was quoted as, “The Bank Link Road was very uncomfortable for the travelling public, and as such, his department decided to remove the road and resurface it as part of the island road maintenance programme.”
Furthermore he mentioned that the department has started the work and the process of removing the asphalt and we are now in a new sub-base and base before asphalting it.
He further added that the department has been testing to ensure that the government has been working to make a fit and suitable road for the residents.
“We are doing testing as we go along to ensure that we get a road that is fit for the purpose and so we are working with the St Kitts Water Department and The Cable in laying their services underground,” he said.
He also informed the concluding date on the work. Gilbert mentioned, “The work is expected to be completed around March 20, 2022”.
In the end, he apologized to the public and businesses that has faced difficulties because of the under-constructed road link.
Mr Gilbert while apologizing mentioned that “to the travelling public and the businesses around that area for the inconvenience caused by the road resurfacing work being done on Bank Street.”
