Barbados Blue Fest 2024: Uniting people to promote marine and ocean life
Barbados Blue Fest 2024 will conclude on 16th November, 2024.

Barbados is all set to host Blue Fest 2024, a week of exciting activities dedicated to marine conservation and blue economy of the country. This event is expected to play a huge role in bringing together people from different backgrounds to promote a shared responsibility for the ocean.
The Blue Fest 2024 will be conducted under the theme “Together in Harmony: Celebrating Inclusivity in the Blue Space” from 11th November, to 16th November, 2024. This theme shed light on bringing together diverse voices from all walks of life to promote a shared responsibility for the marine spaces.
The Blue Fest 2024 will honour and celebrate 80 years of the Fisheries Division, with a week of activities all aimed at raising awareness of the marine environment. All these activities have been conducted in order to promote sustainability in ocean spaces.
As the climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss has been impacting the waters, therefore it is a responsibility for every citizen to stand united, be it, fisherfolk, scientists, policymakers, and the community to build and promote a sustainable future for all the oceans of the country.
The authorities have extended an invitation to all the citizens and has ensured that the Blue Fest 2024 has something to offer to everyone. The attendees will get an opportunity to enjoy local flavours and fisherfolk stories to a Movie Night, Coastal Lecture, engaging Webinars, and much more.
As per the schedule, the week of celebration will begin on 11th November, 2024 with an Online Event, CZMU and Friends, Safeguarding our Seas. This event will provide insight to the several measures that can be followed by the citizens to protect their marine and ocean life.
Following the day, the authorities will host Movie Night: Women Changing the Tides. This will also be hosted by the Coastal Zone Management Unit at Globe Drive-In. The next day will begin with a series of lecture on Barbadian Fortifications: A Re-evaluation of Barbados Coastal Defenses, which has been scheduled to take place at the Grand Salle Theatre, Central Bank.
The second of the Lecture Series will discuss A sustainable blue recovery for the Fisheries Sector in Barbados. It will be hosted by the Fisheries Division at Grand Salle Theatre. The main motive of the series is to shed light on the steps that can be followed by the citizens to foster sustainable biological, environmental and socioeconomic benefits.
The authorities will host two events on 15th November, 2024, featuring Media Workshop that will be conducted on Inclusive Narratives: Amplifying Voices in Blue Space. The next event of the day, End of Week Lime will begin at 7:00 pm.
The celebratory week of Barbados Blue Fest 2024 will conclude on 16th November, 2024 with Fisheries Charity Art Auction, Harbouring Hope: Operation Blue Recovery.
This exciting week of activities for Barbados Blue Fest 2024 also shed light on the commitment of the authorities to taking steps to lead the nation towards sustainability.
