Bahamas Meteorology Department issued a small craft advisory in effect for the northwest Bahamas, and the small craft operators will remain in or near the port.

The weather reports stated that people across the north-western Bahamas will experience thunderstorm activity during the morning hours on Thursday due to heavy rain. As per the forecast, the rains will be accompanied by Gusty winds and some lightning.

The reports further added that there are no severe chances of bad weather. However, these showers and thunderstorms are expected to be normal in Nassau on Thursday.

Such conditions occur as the frontal system moves through the area, which resulted in continuous rainfall. The conditions will also impact the northern and central Florida.

As per the reports, strong to severe storms were experienced over northern and central Florida on Wednesday ahead of a cold front. The forecasters further added that the conditions could pass into effect for the next few days as well.

A ridge of high pressure across the Central and Southeast Bahamas continues to move eastward into the Atlantic. The mariners and sea bathers are advised to ignore any activity in the water.

“Mariners should be alert for possible waterspout activity associated with the frontal passage. Beachgoers in the Northwest Bahamas should exercise caution due to rough surf and the risk of rip currents”, said the Bahamas Meteorology Department.

Today’s Weather update

The people of the Bahamas may experience variably cloudy, warm and breezy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorm on Thursday. There is an expectation of a slight “cool down” behind the front.
