Antigua and Barbuda to celebrate 43rd Independence Anniversary
The Antigua and Barbuda’s Independence Day is observed on November 1 each year, celebrating with several events such as food fairs, sports competitions, dance festivals, art and craft exhibitions and many more.

Antigua and Barbuda is all set to celebrate its 43rd anniversary of Independence under the theme “From Community Collaboration to Global Events.” The authorities have unveiled scheduled to events and activities for the commemoration of Independence Day, celebrating national heroes, vibrant culture and traditions of the country.
The Antigua and Barbuda’s Independence Day is observed on November 1 each year, celebrating with several events such as food fairs, sports competitions, dance festivals, art and craft exhibitions and many more.
And this year’s festivity will commence from 23rd October and the authorities promises to offer plethora of experience to all the visitors, celebrating vibrant showcase of the culture, heritage, and national pride.
EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES FOR ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA 43rd INDEPENDENCE
The Independence celebration will begin with Barbuda Day Activities that will be conducted all day on 23rd October, 2024. The activities will include several competitions, parades, expos, food fairs, music, dance and many more, kicking off with a grand celebration for Independence week.
Following that, the authorities will host Business Decoration Competition that will run for two days i.e. 23rd and 24th October, 2024. In this, the contest will be held between businesses, aimed at motivating local businesses to showcase their talent and skills. The registration to participate in the competition will end on Friday, 18th October, 2024.
Also, a National Youth Rally will also be held by all the young people of the nation at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium at 8:30 am. It will be followed by several competitions including, Cheerleading, Special Drills and DJ at the same venue at 11:30 am.
On 25th October, the nation will celebrate, National Dress at Nation Wide all day where people will dress up in their national attires in the honour of their 43rd anniversary of Independence.
After that, the Wreath Laying Ceremony will be conducted at Heroes Park, Sir Sydney Walling Highway at 10:00 am with a vision to pay a floral tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the Independence of the nation.
The celebration will be continued with Independence Street Fair and Dandan Show at Redcliffe Street between Corn Alley and Market Street from 12 pm to 6 pm. It will showcase the local culture, delicacies made with local flavours and many more. Along with that, this event will also create several opportunities for the local citizens to showcase their talent and creativity.
On 26th October, Antigua and Barbuda will commemorate National Heroes Day in order to remember and honor the bravery of all those leaders who continue to fight for the freedom and goodness of the country. Along with that, on the same, the authorities will also celebrate National School Panorama at Antigua Port Authority Parking Lot at 6 pm. The tickets to attend this event are available and for Children it cost to $10 and $20 for adults.
The Independence Church Service will be held on 27th October at Spring Gardens Moravian Church at 4 pm. And, the next day, the citizens will mark the Golden Age Celebrations at various communities throughout Antigua and Barbuda all day long.
The National Flag Day will be celebrated on 29th October at Nation Wide, followed by Festival of Choirs at St Anthony’s Secondary School Auditorium at 8 pm on 29th October, 2024. All the schools of Antigua and Barbuda will conduct Independence programmes on 30th October, 2024.
And, one day before the Independence an evening of the arts will be celebrated at Multipurpose Cultural Centre. The final showdown of Independence Day will begin with a Flag hoisting ceremony at 8 am.
It will be followed by Independence Food Fair at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium from 7:30 am to 10 pm and Independence Ceremonial Parade at the same venue at 5:30 pm.
