Antigua and Barbuda celebrates 56th Annual Fishing Tournament, attracts seafood lovers
The Tourism Authority of Antigua and Barbuda celebrated its 56th edition of the Annual Fishing Tournament and attracted sports-fishing enthusiasts and seafood lovers from all over the world.

Antigua and Barbuda: The Tourism Authority of Antigua and Barbuda celebrated its 56th edition of the Annual Fishing Tournament and attracted sports-fishing enthusiasts and seafood lovers from all over the world. The event offered all their attendees some of the freshest seafood around the tournament and made their experience unforgettable and comfortable.
The event was conducted at the historic town of English Harbour at the Falmouth Harbour Marine from 16th May to 19th May 2024. The event offered a plethora of experiences to all the attendees from local food, drinks, cultural dancers to the vibrant ambience.
The event was overall a family-friendly event full of fun for all the attendees. The Annual Fishing Tournament is an interactive way of enhancing the awareness of fishing resources and also welcomes many new anglers to the sport.
The fishing tournament also plays a significant role in promoting the local businesses and creating a positive impact on the economic conditions of the country, which directly leads to its growth and development. The Antigua and Barbuda Sports Fishing Tournament highlighted the number of fish caught. A total number of 60 fish were caught, out of which 40 were dolphins, 2 were Kingfish, 4 were Tuna, and 14 were Wahoo. The total number of fish released was 9, of which 8 were Blue Marling and 1 was Sailfish.
The tourism sector of Antigua and Barbuda has witnessed exceptional growth over these months, be it through the cruise sector, airline sector, or many more. As per the reports, the island nation created a record and welcomed over 500,000 cruise passengers since the beginning of the year.
Such milestones shed light on the continuous efforts undertaken by the tourism authority towards elevating the island nation to greater heights. The Ministry of Tourism of Antigua and Barbuda have been constantly making best efforts in order to showcase the vibrant festivals and rich cultural heritage of the country.
The citizens and all the sports-fishing enthusiasts lauded the authorities for beautifully hosting the tournament and expressed excitement about attending the following year’s event.
