Another big win for Anderson Peters, wins gold in Wanda Diamond League

It is a back-to-back win for the Grenadian Javelin thrower Anderson Peters, who claimed the gold medal in the Wanda Diamond League in Zurich on Thursday, 5th September 2024. He hit the impressive mark of 85.72m in order to add another accolade to his bag.

With a throw of 85.72 metres, Anderson Peters managed to defeat Julian Weber of Germany threw 85.33 metres and Japan’s Roderick Dean who made a throw of 82.69 metres.

Following his exceptional victory at the Wanda Diamond League, Anderson Peters stated that he was severely sick after Lausanne and his body was still recovering from that. He added that he has not been training and was just relaxing and trying his body to recover from the flu.

“So, it still feels like my body is on the way to the top competition form, and it will be my shot at the win,” noted Anderson Peters.

After another win in the Diamond League, the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell, extended congratulations to the athlete. He called him the true source of inspiration for all other Grenadians who are aspiring to represent the nation on an international platform.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Grenada also lauded Peters for his yet another victory. The Ministry stated that the athlete is always aiming high and is truly proud of his exceptional accomplishments.

Moreover, Anderson Peters also expressed his excitement on winning another medal. He stated that he is truly grateful to have won in Zurich with a throw of 88.52m at the Wanda Diamond League, especially given the harsh weather conditions.

Also, the athlete is aiming for another league and stated that he is looking forward to competing in Brussels and seeing what his body can produce.

Peters continued to say that he had one more competition for this year and that he would be done. And it would be his third time in the finals of Diamond League.

For the same, Peters will travel to Brussels, Belgium, to compete in the Diamond League finals with his fellow Grenadian and track legend Kirani James.

Kirani James will compete in the Men’s 400m on Friday, 13th September 2024. Recently, James won a silver medal in the Men’s 400m at the Rome Diamond League with a time of 44.30 seconds.

Both the Grenadians are aiming to bring another medal for their nation in the Wanda Diamond League, which is scheduled to take place on 13th and 14th September 2024.
