Agricultural officials of St Kitts and Nevis on a mission to enhance food production
The government of St Kitts and Nevis plans to promote local food production during the broadcast of InFocus.

The government of St Kitts and Nevis plans to promote local food production and improve the availability of basic necessities such as water, abodes as well as financial resources. This comes following the nation’s celebration of the World Food Day on October 16.
These matters and the critical factors including them will be discussed on Wednesday, October 18, during the broadcast of InFocus.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Miguel Flemming and Jeanelle Kelly, Director of Agriculture, will play an important part in the programme. As a part of the celebration multiple activities and events will be conducted from 14th to 20th October.
World Food Day is annually celebrated on 16th October. This year, the theme chosen for the event is “Water is life, Water is food, and Leave no one behind”.
The theme highlights the significant role of water for fulfilling the basic needs of any society, as well as in achieving food security. The historic day also motivates natives to conserve water and use it wisely for the nation’s sustainable development.
It is expected that the officials will discuss how this agenda will fit within the basic structure of the St Kitts and Nevis. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Miguel Flemming, was also a part of the Minister’s delegation. He is expected to demonstrate how the country will benefit from their engagement with Samal Duggins, the Minister of Agriculture in Louisiana.
The St Kitts and Nevis Information Service produce InFocus, which is aired live on ZIZ Radio and Television at 1 p.m. every Wednesday. It is also streamed simultaneously on ZIZ and SKNIS’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

World Food Day originally came to the fore in 1979. World Food Day was established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. This day is celebrated with the motto of eradicating hunger.
It also highlights the importance of proper diet and nutrition and overcoming all the challenges associated with food and other basic amenities.
