Agri Christmas Night Market announces winner for Egg Eating Contest

St Kitts and Nevis: Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources St Kitts featured the winner of the Egg Eating contest, Stedroy “Pow” Liburd, through their social media on December 27,2023.

The contest was held on December 21 (Thursday) at Basseterre Public Market between 5 pm and 10 pm under the Agri Christmas Night Market.  The market featured and offered a lot to the citizens as it had a blend of food, groceries and entertainment.

Moreover, the Ministry of Agriculture St Kitts shared the highlights from the 2023 Agri Christmas Night Market and glimpses from the egg-eating competition. 

The glances shared revealed some of the participants having eggs as part of the competition, the joy on their faces as well as the excitement. In one of the glimpses, the winner is also shown being honoured with the prize for winning the egg-eating competition.

The prize included egg trays and a bottle of wine or local rum.

Along with this competition, watermelon eating competition also took place at the market and the entertaining bells were rung by Grand Masters Band and the Monkey Hill Bull Troupe.

Probing ahead, many of the vendors showcased their products at the market, which were not only from St Kitts and Nevis. However, the vendors from the complete Caribbean region come to be part of the market.

Considerably, Farmers from Helen Daughters, from Saint Lucia marked their presence at the Agri Christmas night Market, showcasing a bountiful harvest of organic produce, festive flavours and seasonal splendour.

All the cultural presentations at the market proved the true epitome of a unique culture. The local people such as Cleo and Nevis Abattoir featured their products and people even showed great love for all the products.

The items presented by Cleo were specialized in puddings as she is even named as pudding lady. She presented black pudding for all the pudding lovers and many other items as well. At the same point, Nevis Abattoir every year gained much love for food items like Smoked Chicken, Diced Pork, Pork Chops and many more.
