2nd ORCS-ECCB Int’l Netball Series to commence from 12-18 Feb in Dominica

Roseau, Dominica: The final stage of the second OECS-ECCB International Netball Series would shoot off from 12 to 18 February at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, Dominica.

The series would be played to bag the Gloria Ballantyne Championship Trophy. Five of the ECCB members would compete against each other; the five participants are – Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Saint Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis and Saint Vincent and Grenadines.

In 2022, the Barbados team will make its debut; it would not compete for the trophy but will be a competitor for the team’s rankings. The ranking of the teams would depend on the number of matches played and won.

The guests of this week’s episode would be the President of the Caribbean Netball Association (CNA), Rufina Paul and President of the Dominica Netball Association (DNA), Regina Walsh.

President of the DNA said, “Alongside the matches, the activities will feature a Welcome Reception and Candle Light Ceremony, opening ceremony, and a Development Session.” He further assured that COVID-related protocols would be strictly followed during the tournament, and participants must remain safe against the contagious virus.

She further emphasized that the players must be 100 percent vaccinated, and they must possess a vaccination card.

Along with the matches, the participators would be welcomed with an opening ceremony and candlelight ceremony, and a Development Session.

However, the President of CAN stated that this tournament holds a significant position at the world level as it internationally promotes regional netball.

The tournament is hosted by the ECCB to support the personal development of women. The game would be streamed on the YouTube channel of ECCB and the Facebook pages of the Government of Commonwealth of Dominica Information Service.
