Haiti: After the 7.2 magnitudes of the earthquake struck Haiti on 14 August, which led to huge devastation, more than 53,000 buildings were destroyed; this has led to the situation in which around 10,000 Haitian migrants were bivouacked in a squalid camp under a bridge in southern Texas on Friday.

The country is suffering from poverty. The situation is so worsened on the island that people are finding it challenging to have one-time food. However, various nations and international/national organisations are coming forward to assist the Caribbean region.

The United Nations has urged the countries to raise funds for the country. Recently, a report by UNICEF – one of the UN’s organ stated that even after one month of devastating 7.2 magnitudes of the earthquake still more than 650,000 individuals in Haiti requires humanitarian assistance. Out of these statistics published, 260,000 are children who need assistance.

Despite this, the presidential elections in the country have been postponed till the month of November this year, in which the widow of President Jovenel Moise – Martine Moise has hinted at her candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections.

It is high time that more nations must come forward for the Caribbean region in order to provide assistance as the nation battles the COVID-19 outbreak, gang violence, poverty, high crime rate and political instability.

In addition, in the assassination of President Moise, one of the prosecutors sought to interview the Prime Minister – Ariel Henry, regarding the proofs, which indicated that he had a telephonic conversation twice with the key suspect of the case that too on the night of President’s killing.

Prime Minister called it a political stunt and refused to answer any questions regarding the case. Later on, the Prosecutor was also replaced by PM Henry. The case roots are getting entangled day by day.
