A mother from Kansas City, Missouri has been charged for the offence of placing her 1-month-old daughter in an oven. Allegedly, she mistook the kitchen appliance for the infant’s crib and put her new born baby down for a nap, resulting in the death of a baby.
Upon receiving the news about the incident, the authorities visited the home of the lady and found the new born baby covered in burns, with her clothing melted onto her diaper.
Notably, the incident took place on Friday and the mother has been identified as 26-year-old Mariah Thomas. She is facing a class A felony of endangering the welfare of a child in the 1st degree, death of a child.
Jean Peters Baker, the Jackson County Prosecutor stated “We appreciate all first responders who worked this scene and the prosecutors who went to the scene in order to issue these charges.”
While recognising this horrible and terrifying tragedy, he said that they have the utmost trust in the judicial system and they are sure that the system will respond appropriately to this unpleasant situation.
Moreover, one of the friends of Mariah Thomas, stated that her friend might be struggling with some mental health issue which resulted in the loss of an innocent soul.
Various residents of the community took to their social media accounts and shared their views on the matter.
One person with a Facebook account Velda Gumbs commented “Lord, pls have some mercy. Whatever happened to Jesus’ command of ‘suffer little children to come on to me.”
Another person with a Facebook account, Leniell Roderiques, commented the following “Why are people so wicked to these innocent babies. I love kids so bad I hate to hear them cry. Only God knows omg.”
It is very disheartening to watch that babies are not even safe with their own mothers. This case highlights the inattentiveness of a mother. Another infant has lost her life just because of the non-seriousness of the mother.
