1 killed and 10 seriously injured in Pilgrim Road accident: Barbados

Barbados experienced an accident on the Pilgrim Road, Christ Church. Till now, 1 fatality has been reported in the accident, and 10 persons are seriously injured.  

This incident took place at 10:45 am on Friday, August 6. While talking to the reporters on the location, Police spokesperson Acting Inspector Inniss said that the death was a mature male and he was the driver of one of the two vehicles badly damaged in the accident. A white Nissan Frontier pickup of Ministry of Health was travelling towards Oistins, and a Mitsubishi Fuso minibus was in the opposition travelling in the opposite direction when the two collided head-on.

The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead on the spot driver of the minibus complained of injuries to his feet and chest pains. He was taken away to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) for medical attention.

Ten passengers in the minibus complained of various injuries – two were taken to the QEH, and one was transported to the Randall Phillips Polyclinic at Oistins. The remaining seven were discharged as they opted to seek private medical attention.

Five ambulances responded to the scene along with two medical doctors as well as two fire tenders. Police investigations continue. The country has recorded 11 fatalities from 10 accidents so far for the year.

The total active cases of COVID-19 are 4,443 in number out of which 10 have been recently reported, with 48 deaths recorded till present in Barbados due to the COVID-19 virus. No new death case of COVID-19 has been reported.

From the day pandemic hit Barbados, the health department have tested 2,24,225 people, out of which 4,443 were reported positive, out of which 2,158 were female, and 2,285 were male. Now 93 persons are isolated.
