MV Beautranga to bring relief supplies for St Vincent and the Grenadines

MV Beautranga is set to dock at the ports of St Vincent and the Grenadines on or around 24 August 2024. The vessel is carrying aid and donations from the UK in response to the devastating effects of Hurricane Beryl.

A UK based shipping company; Kestrel Liner Agencies has been playing a crucial role in the relief efforts. They have collaborated with commercial suppliers and Europe Caribbean Line in order to deliver the essential supplies to St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The company utilized their cargo ship, Beautranga as a medium, so that the essentials such as generators, temporary shelters, rebuilding equipment, containers full of private donations, infrastructure could reach the island nation as quickly as possible.

While shedding light on the relief efforts, the CEO of Kestrel Liner Agencies, Andy Thorne stated that upon witnessing people suffering from the devastation caused by the Hurricane Beryl. He immediately planned of offering aid to the affected ones.

This shipping organisation was founded by Ande Thorne 30 years back. He expressed his connection to the Caribbean both personally and professionally, dating back to the early days of the company. He continued to say that his main concern was his team, their families and the communities. Therefore, they mobilised themselves and leveraged their network of suppliers and partners in order to provide relief to the affected areas and individuals.

As per the details, the cruise Beautranga is making its way across the North Atlantic and is expected to soon dock at the ports of St Vincent and the Grenadines. The ship is anticipating to dock at Campden Park because of the damage caused in Kingstown port last month.

Moreover, Kestrel has a long-established operation from sites in the countries such as Trinidad, Guyana, Barbados and Jamaica. Along with that, it also works with numerous partner agents from across the Caribbean region.

The Operation Manager of Kestrel in St Vincent, Marlon Gibson also stated that there is a vast array of vital aid, shelter and infrastructure and personally addressed donations which has been arriving on the Beautranga from the UK.

He further asserted that once all the aid and relief efforts are docked at the ports of the island nation, they will be working with the logistics and recovery experts from World Food Programme and the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) to ensure that all the right equipment and essentials are reached to their intended destinations.

While expressing gratitude, Gibson stated that he is extremely proud of an organization like Kestrel. He stated that they just heard of the storm and reacted immediately to it by delivering the essential aid.
