Montserrat: The MNI Department of Community, Youth and Sports Services has announced “Career Week: Careers in Tourism.
“Rethinking Tourism” was this year’s theme for World Tourism Day 2022. The Montserrat Tourism Division organized a week of celebrations to commemorate the day.
On Monday, September 26, 2022, a panel discussion comprised ten panellists from various areas of Tourism engaged with students from the Montserrat Secondary School, Montserrat Community College and other key stakeholders. The students got a chance to interact with the presenters and ask them questions about their different careers. Topics such as Entrepreneurship, business start-up, funding, tour guiding, ecotourism, real estate, local craft & pottery making, culinary arts, and digital marketing were discussed, just to name a few. This all took place at the Montserrat National Trust.
In the beginning, World Tourism Week was officially opened by Premier, Easton Taylor-Farrell. The Youth Premier, Figueroa, also addressed the young persons in attendance.
Miss Montserrat – Nia St Claire was present at the event, and Roniqua Gerald, the Product Development Officer, was a featured speaker. The DCYSS thanked the Tourism Division and the presenters for their collaboration and engaging delivery to the students amidst Career Week 2022, this Youth Month.
