The 8-a-side football festivals will move to other districts and will be done in conjunction with the major football clubs within the district.

The 8-a-side festivals aim to create greater involvement at the community level, bring communities together, create an avenue for exposure of talents, create a grassroots sports structure and help strengthen the club structure.

Further details will be provided on the first and other upcoming festivals.

Sports Division is building communities through sports.

Earlier, a new Sports Committee was on Monday evening elected to serve the community of St. Joseph, and the committee members were elected at a meeting organized by the District Sports Officer, Edmund Audain.

The committee will be responsible for managing, organizing and coordinating sporting activities and performing other sports-related functions in the community.

The Sports Division is on a drive to establish these community-based organizations in order to bring greater structure to grassroots sports.
