Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: It is a historic moment for the sports department of St Kitts and Nevis as Mikyle Louis became the first ever Kittitian to make it into the West Indies Cricket Team. His selection in West Indies Tour of England Test squad is a testament to his unwavering commitment and dedication towards his passion and love for the game.

Notably, the Cricket West Indies Senior Men’s selection panel has unveiled the 15-member squad for Richard Botham test series against England which has been scheduled to play at Lord’s on Wednesday 10th July 2024.

Dr. Desmond Haynes, the CWI Lead Selector expressed his confidence in Mikyle Louis and stated that the he has performed exceptionally well in his debut First Class Season for the Leeward Island Hurricanes, scoring 682 runs at an average of 48.71.

His selection in the West Indies Test Cricket squad has made the day celebratory for the entire Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. Following his selection, the social media flooded with messages of best wishes for the player.

The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew also took to his social media account and congratulated the player for being the first Kittitian to make the West Indies Cricket team. The leader of the nation stated that his admission in the team is crucial and means a lot to all the citizens of the nation.

“I just spoke with Mikyle Louis by phone to congratulate him on being the first Kittitian to make the Windies Cricket team. Although he is not the first from the Federation, he is the first Kittitian,” noted Dr. Terrance Drew.

PM Drew called Mikyle Louis “an example” and a source of motivation for all the young players who are making continuous effort to turn their aspirations into reality.

The Sports Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Samal Duggins also lauded the player for his hard work, dedication and congratulated him on being selected for the test series. He noted that this historic achievement signifies that how committed the player is towards his sports.

Minister Duggins also stated that Mikyle’s journey has been an inspiration for all, he has always carried the pride and hopes of St. Kitts and Nevis. He further asserted that being the Sports Minister, he is confident that Mikyle will continue to excel on an international stage and will make all the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis proud with his achievements and excellence.
