Mical Teja wins NACC Young Kings, know results

Trinidad: Mical Teja secured victory in the National Action Cultural Committee’s (NACC) Young Kings competition. It is to be noted that the event took place on Tuesday, 30th January 2024, at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.

Teja performed his winning song “DNA” and grabbed the top spot in the 2024 Young Kings Calypso Monarch. The singer, the songwriter and the music producer, a culturally award-winning recording artist, will always be remembered for his incomparable performance to claim the title of Young Kings.

By the age of 11, he was already writing songs and at 15, he started using software to produce music. The singer earned fame in 2019 with his songs, including Lifetime, Come 2 Jam and Self Approved. Since then, he has been working with many of the biggest names in the industry which includes, including Kes, Naliah Blackman, Olatunji, etc.

Mical Teja has been making headlines in the Caribbean music with the release of song “Bumper Murder”, which also placed him in the 2020 International Soca Monarch and “Hornin First”, which took third place in the 2021 International Soca Monarch.

He competed against 17 contestants to be crowned the winner in the NACC Young Kings competition. The talent, passion and dedication of Mical Teja shone brightly and made him the true Young King of Calypso.

Mical Teja shared a few glimpses of the event and added a caption: “Thank you, thank you, Thank you. I am truly humbled to be your 2024 Young King. This victory wouldn’t be possible without the involvement of the entire team. All of the rehearsals, hard work and preparations that went into last night was truly phenomenal. This win is as much yours as it is mine. Forever grateful for this moment.”

The result of the competition is as follows:

  1. Mical Williams, also known as Mical Teja, took first place for his excellent performance in the song “DNA.”
  2. Caston Cupid secured the second position for his heartfelt composition “Straight from the Heart.”
  3. The third spot was bagged by Dawren Greenidge who performed on song “Ah Doh Want to Do It.”
  4. The fourth position was secured by Hammond Bruce, who gave an electrifying performance on the song “Trinidad is not a real place.”
  5. Andre Nelson grabbed the fifth position and performed on the song “Trinidad is Home.”
  6. Romel Lezama secured the sixth spot for his excellent performance on “Real Talk.”

Various community members took to their social media accounts and congratulated Teja. One person with a Facebook account, Arkadi Mendoza, commented, “I saw you perform once at the KENSON Christmas party in San Fernando, and it was perfection. It is a well-deserved victory, and I can see this song as Road March 2024.DNA.”

“Congratulations, you truly deserve this, it’s your time to shine,” wrote Colette Roberts.

Another person with a Facebook handle, Roxanne Hernandez, commented the following: “Congrats, bro, and Sunday, God’s willing, we are making History again with your central band. Tropical Angel Harps steel orchestra.”
