Melissa Skerrit congratulates winners of Shine Like a Star talent show

Melissa Skerrit, the Parliamentary Representative, extended congratulations to all the winners of the Shine Like a Star Talent show.

Notably, the three best performers were awarded the first, second and third prizes, respectively. Along with that, the award for the crowd pleaser was also given to the group that pleased the audience with their entertaining performance.

While congratulating the winners, the Housing Minister and the Parliamentary Representative, Melissa Poponne-Skerrit, wrote the caption in the recent post shared by her on Facebook: “Congratulations to these talented young folks!!.”

The winners of the talent show:

• The first prize was bagged by Pashiwok Dance Group, which entertained the audience with their electrifying and thrilling performance. They were given $500 as the winning amount.
• DSC Dance Group stood second in the talent show and they received $300 for securing the second position.
• The second runner-up of the show was Miracle J The Illusionist. The group received $200 as the winning amount.
• Dominica Break Dancing Association became the crowd pleaser of the talent show and they received $100.

It is to be noted that the Shine Like a Star Talent programme was conducted on Friday, 15 December 2023. Various groups and artists performed at the night and entertained the audience. The performers include DJ Flash, Master of Ceremony, Uliscia Jno Baptiste, Pashiwok (Minnie section), Dominica Break Dancing Association, DSC Dance Dynasty Dance, Miracle the Illusionist Magician, Delbert Rivier, Strive Star, Pashiwok (Junior Section), Jose and Ansel Dance Guru graced the night through their thrilling and excellent performances.

The winners of the Shine Like a Star talent show were decided on the basis of voting. The voting lines were open for 24 hours. The audience voted by commenting on their favourite act.

Moreover, the names of the winners were announced at the Grand Finale of the Roseau Christmas Village. The conclusion of the event was very successful and took place on Friday, 5 January 2024 at Botanic Gardens.

The Grand Finale was celebrated under the theme “Christmas We Miss You… Carnival, I See You.” The event was attended by a large audience and they experienced incredible performances by various legendary artists. The artists include DJ Shil, Freddy, DJ Taffy and Gwada G.

Further, the community members also extended their wishes to the winners; one user with a Facebook account named Shanelle Elizee wrote, “Congratulations to all.” While Shanna Mitchel commented the following “Congratulations to all, especially the Pashiwok dance group.”
