A Jamaican marine engineer was charged with drug offences and remanded in police custody in Barbados.

A 61-year-old resident of Spanish Town in Jamaica named Ralph James is charged with possession of a large amount of cannabis.

The charges also include the charge of him intending to supply and traffic the cannabis.

The Jamaican was brought before a Barbados court, and he would return to the court on 14th December.

Allegedly, James was arrested on 7th November after the discovery of 138.4 kilogrammes of cannabis in his possession.

It is believed that he had intentions of supplying and trafficking the drugs.

Illegal cannabis found in possession of James had an estimated street value of BD$553,600.

The Jamaican dollar value of the illegal cannabis found from his possession is around $40 million.
