Jamaican foreign minister Kamina Johnson meets Ambassadors of Guyana, Pakistan to UN

Jamaica: Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Jamaica’s Candidate for Commonwealth SG 2022, Kamina Johnson Smith, has shared updates on her recent tour to New York.
During her visit, he met with various dignitaries, including the Ambassador of Guyana to the United Nations – Carolyn Rodriques-Birkett.
Both leaders discussed the importance of bilateral, multilateral and regional cooperation between Jamaica and Guyana.
While expressing the pleasure, Kamina noted, “It was a pleasure to meet with Carolyn Rodriques-Birkett, Ambassador of #Guyana to the #UN, to underscore the importance of bilateral, regional & multilateral cooperation between Jamaica and Guyana.”
She added that the discussions also focused on the Commonwealth, and my bid for SG was also greatly appreciated.
During the same visit, Kamina Johnson also had a discussion with Munir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to United Nations in New York. Both international delegations shared their views on various issues.
The Jamaican leader took social media to express pleasure and said, “In NY, it was a pleasure to meet with Munir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to UN, whose significant experience in NY and Geneva is reflected in his global perspectives. I enjoyed our exchange of views, including my candidature for the role of #Commonwealth.”
Recently, the Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade minister has been on an official tour of various countries across the globe. Smith has been promoting the candidature as the “commonwealth secretary”.
The visit would also focus on engaging with the Heads of State and Foreign Ministers of Commonwealth countries.
