Kingston, Jamaica: Jamaica marked the birth anniversary of Edward Seaga, the fifth Prime Minister of Jamaica, on May 28, 2023. Former PM Seaga served the nation between 1980 and 1989. Prime Minister of Jamaica – Andrew Holness, paid tribute and mentioned that he would remain in the minds and hearts of every Jamaican.

PM Holness took social media and outlined, “May the legacy of the Edward Seaga forever remind us of the heights we can achieve when we come together as one people, one nation, with one mission—to build a Jamaica that is prosperous, inclusive, and united.”

On the afternoon of May 28, the nation commemorated the 93rd anniversary of the birth of Edward Seaga, former Prime Minister of Jamaica, with a floral tribute at the National Heroes’ Park.

As per the update, Edward Seaga’s love for Jamaica was evident in everything he did. He believed fervently in all possible potential as a nation and worked relentlessly to achieve it. His steadfast dedication to the progress and prosperity of Jamaica is a legacy that will serve as an inspiration to future generations.

“Seaga saw the true potential of our country, the incredible heights we could reach if only we would focus our efforts and realize our collective ability,” he noted.

PM Andrew Holness further added that the former PM has worked in favour of the nation and has always taken steps in favour of the growth and development of the nation.

The Prime Minister added, “He understood that progress would come swiftly and effectively if we avoided meaningless debates that only circled us back to our starting point. He believed we should not allow ourselves to be distracted by trivial matters that would cause us to miss opportunities and waste valuable time that could be used to further our goals.”

Besides being the Prime Minister, Edward Seaga has also worked as the leader of the opposition of the nation two times, from 1974 to 1980 as well as from 1989 to 2005. He has also appointed as the leader of the Jamaica Labour Party from 1974 to 2005.
