St James, Jamaica: 19-year-old Marlon Samuels, resident of Flamstead Gardens, was charged with multiple offences, which include forcible abduction, attempted rape and sexual touching of a child on Wednesday.
It is to be noted that the incident came to light when the mother of a child reported the matter to the Centre of Investigation for Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).
As per the reports shared by Montego Bay officers, the little child was moving her way from a nearby shop when she saw the suspect, Marlon Samuels, at a house. Subsequently, the suspect asked the minor to come over to his place. However, the minor refused and continued to walk towards her direction.
Meanwhile, Marlon Samuels grabbed the minor by her hands, pulled her inside the house and locked the door. Thereafter, he tried to assault the little girl, but she bit his hands and was successful in escaping from his clutch.
Later, the child shared the entire story with her mother, and following that, she took her little daughter to the Centre of Investigation for Sexual Offences and Child Abuse and reported the entire incident.
The investigating team immediately responded to the matter and arrested Marlon Samuels with the charges of forcible abduction, attempted rape and sexual touching of a child. The suspect was reportedly pointed out during an identification parade on Wednesday.
According to the reports, the incident took place on Wednesday, January 10th, and he was charged with the offences on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024. The date of the court hearing has not been finalized yet.
Various residents of the community took to their social media accounts, expressed their views on the matter, and asked for brutal punishment for the suspect.
One person with a Facebook account, Maxine Adderley, commented the following: “This is a brazen criminal; I guess that he is accustomed to such behaviours. This could not be his first time.”
“Keep him inside for a long time,” wrote Paulette Jackson.
Another person with a Facebook handle, Shellony Budho, commented, “There needs to be stiffer penalties for incidents like these.”
