Guyana’s Ministry of Labour celebrates graduation of 48 residents from job readiness summer camp

Georgetown, Guyana: The Ministry of Labour of Guyana shared a glimpse of the recently organised certificate handing-over ceremony.

According to the update shared by the Ministry through social media, Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour, saw forty-eight (48) Region Nine (9) residents receive certificates for completing the Employment Attack 102 Job Readiness Summer Camp, which was organised by the Sustained Youth Development and Research Inc (SSYDR) and ExxonMobil Guyana, on July 21, 2023 (Friday).

The update has also claimed that Yolanda Grant, Chief Recruitment and Manpower Officer, Mike Ryan, Production Manager of ExxonMobil Guyana, Regional Chairman of Region Nine (9), Bryan Allicock, and other authorities attended the graduation ceremony at St Ignatius Secondary School.

Furthermore, it was stated that the one-month programme included a seven-module work-ready curriculum in which students learned about personal development, interpersonal communication, work habits and conduct, leadership and teamwork, safety and health, rights and duties, and financial fitness.

The Ministry of Labour of Guyana has additionally stated that it also renders the use of the Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency’s (CRMA) services to assist students in seeking employment, including four months of mentoring.

In addition, Minister Hamilton visited the Board of Industrial Training’s training centre in Lethem to oversee its current activities for this year, as per the update shared by the Ministry of Labour. He was joined by work-study students assigned to the ministry, who gained firsthand knowledge of how Ministry personnel worked in the field.
