The locals on social media have been sharing about similar tragedies in which they lost their loved ones and have expressed condolences to the family.
One user named Mervyth Duncan commented, “People don’t hear. Those Ill-equipped tourist attractions need to be closed and properly certified and regulated. I had a nephew who drowned at one of them in July 2001. I will never go to none of them.”
The Guyana Police Force is conducting the investigation and have advised the residents to be vigilant while near the water bodies with kids.
